In the Fall of 2020, the Town of Cumberland contacted GPCOG to express concerns for pedestrian safety along a portion of Route 9 (Main Street) and Tuttle Road in Cumberland adjacent to the schools.
The purpose of this study is to assist in the creation of a plan for safe pedestrian crossings in the study area, which encompasses a stretch of Route 9 (Main Street) from Tuttle Road to Greely Road, and Tuttle Road/Blanchard Road from Sunnyfield Lane to Red Mill Way. The study features data collected at several pedestrian crossings and investigates potential traffic calming alternatives. This safety study analyzes the pedestrian crossing locations and makes recommendations for pedestrian crossings and traffic calming measures.
